Dear Supporter,

At NNEDV, we share your concerns about the impact and risks presented by coronavirus (COVID-19). Survivors in shelters and the advocates who help them are also thinking about ways to stay healthy and safe. Domestic violence programs must face these challenges without interrupting lifesaving services. The spread of the COVID-19 will also create housing, childcare, financial, and other barriers that impact survivors’ safety.

NNEDV has developed new resources and compiled state and national guidance to help domestic violence coalitions, service providers, and advocates support survivors and operate effectively during a public health emergency. Key resources on our
new COVID-19 resource page include:

Our resource page includes links to state-specific resources, resources from other national providers, and resources from the CDC and WHO.

We will continue to add resources that will help local programs navigate the pandemic to our COVID-19 resource page. Please consider sharing this resource with those in your community that might need it.

While this pandemic may present novel and significant concerns, the resilience of survivors and our work to end domestic violence in the face of overwhelming challenges is not new. Local programs have faced disasters, and economic crises that lasted for months. The staff in local programs are experts in helping survivors navigate difficult and complex situations, and are skilled, creative problem-solvers who are centering the needs of survivors every day.

For safety and peace,

Deborah J. Vagins
