Dear Supporter,

As concerns around coronavirus (COVID-19) continue, we are calling on Congress to act. Last week the House passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act H.R. 6201, which provides economic supports, including access to food assistance, unemployment insurance, and paid sick leave. The Act will help survivors who face economic hardships exacerbated by this crisis.

Now the Senate must pass this bill.

Domestic violence programs are bracing for more reports of domestic violence and more victims reaching out for help and support. We need Congress to act now in order to ensure the safety and well-being of survivors and their children.

Call or email your Senator now and say “Vote for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act now to protect families, especially those facing domestic violence.”

Three easy ways to contact your Senators

  • Email via NNEDV's Action Alert
  • Tweet #Coronavirus impacts America’s most vulnerable, including victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence. @Senator’sHandle, it is time to put #familiesfirst and pass the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to provide #paidsickdays, food access, and safety!
  • Text COVID19 to 747464
  • Call 1-844-633-2048 to be connected with your Senators’ offices (thanks to MomsRising for the phone and text line!)

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act is a crucial first step in addressing this crisis. Congress will need to pass additional measures in the near future to help those struggling, including passing more specific provisions for domestic violence victims and the programs that serve them. Watch this space for more information as it develops.

Thank you for all that you do to help survivors, especially in these deeply challenging times.

For safety and peace,

Deborah J. Vagins
NNEDV President and CEO
