Dear Supporter,

Your calls and emails worked! Last Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act (H.R. 6800), which includes critical funding and policy improvements to help survivors of domestic violence. Thank you for taking action on behalf of survivors!

The HEROES Act would provide much-needed protections to help keep survivors safe, including funding for emergency shelter, transitional housing, and victim services, as well as broader investments to address human needs such as employment protections and food security assistance. Learn more about how the HEROES Act responds to survivors’ needs here.

Now the Senate must pass legislation that includes and expands upon these provisions in the HEROES Act. In the coming weeks, we will be asking you to contact your Senators to help us get a funding package passed into law that explicitly addresses the needs of survivors. We will be asking the Senate to build upon the lifesaving provisions in the HEROES Act and increase funding for domestic violence and sexual assault service providers. I hope you will join us; stay tuned here for updates. Safety cannot wait.

Your actions help to create a safer world for survivors. Thank you.

For safety and peace,

Deborah J. Vagins
NNEDV President and CEO
