The Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) would create a federal law protecting abortion access from bans and restrictions nationwide. In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision to strip away the constitutional right to abortion, it is critical for Congress to pass federal legislation to protect reproductive rights for everyone, including survivors. Abortion services are essential healthcare and having equal access—for all people, everywhere—is vital to their social and economic participation, reproductive autonomy, and the right to determine their own lives. For domestic violence survivors, abortion access is a matter of safety.
The House passed the Women’s Health Protection Act in July 2022, but the Senate failed to advance the bill for a vote. In a time when states are increasingly enforcing stricter anti-abortion laws and, in some cases, outright bans, it is imperative the Senate act now and pass WHPA to protect reproductive rights for everyone. Join us now and urge the Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (S. 4132).
