A Message from NNEDV's Interim President & CEO

Dear Supporter,

I hope this email finds you well as we enter the final months of the year. For many of us, including survivors of domestic violence, these months can be difficult. Last year, as part of our REACH Project, Esperanza United and NNEDV’s WomensLaw team put together some holiday safety-planning guidance in both English and Spanish. I hope you’ll check it out, if it’s helpful to you or someone you care about.

Meanwhile, although the federal government shutdown has finally ended, its impact on survivors and programs continues. Even state, territorial, and national organizations (like NNEDV) aren’t immune from turbulence at the federal level. Last week, I shared in a video how NNEDV is responding to these impacts and, most importantly, how you can help.

In the spirit of gratitude that carries us through these holiday months, I want to extend my gratitude for NNEDV and our entire network: survivors, advocates, programs, coalitions, partners, funders – and you. You make our work possible. We’re so grateful that you're here with us. Keep reading to see what we’ve been up to as we work to build a world where domestic violence no longer exists.

In peace and safety,

Tonia Moultry-Pace
Interim President & CEO

Upcoming Events

GivingTuesday is December 2! By joining the GivingTuesday movement, you’re demonstrating that generosity can unite us in times of uncertainty. Please consider making a gift to NNEDV or browsing our program directory to support your local domestic violence shelter or coalition. Every dollar makes a difference for survivors as they rebuild their lives free from abuse.

Save the date for NNEDV’s 8th Annual Economic Justice Summit, which will be held virtually March 3-5, 2026, with the theme: "Breaking Barriers: Economic Justice in the Digital World." This national summit brings together advocates, domestic violence coalitions, national experts, researchers, evaluators, and allies to discuss and share strategies to improve economic security for domestic violence survivors.

Helpful Resources

Our Safety Net team has updated Documentation Tips for Survivors of Technology Abuse & Stalking with new information, resources, and guidance. Check it out if you're a survivor, know a survivor, or work with survivors.

NNEDV's Next Step Loans are now available in SEVEN new states and territories! These asset-building loans are available to financial abuse survivors who have successfully completed one of our First Step Loans through our Independence Program.

Over the summer, Instagram introduced several new features, including Instagram Map, which allows users to share their live location with friends and explore posts tagged to nearby places. While the new feature can be helpful, survivors of abuse (and advocates helping survivors) should be aware of the significant safety and privacy concerns this feature raises. Keep reading in Safety, Privacy, and Instagram’s Location Sharing Features.

Our Safety Net team’s updated Technology and Sexual Assault/Sexual Violence guide discusses how tech-facilitated sexual violence can look, privacy concerns for survivors, and how survivors and advocates can use tech to take back power. Check it out!

Additional Updates

NNEDV and Ring have completed the third year of our Ring Donation Program for Domestic Violence Survivors! Through Ring and TechSoup, an additional 15,000 Ring Doorbells and Stick-Up Cams have been donated to domestic violence programs nationwide. These programs provide the devices to survivors who are interested in using them as part of their safety plans. Learn more in our Safety Net team's latest blog.

Thank you to our longtime partner, The Allstate Foundation, for supporting NNEDV’s work with new grant funding. For nearly 20 years, The Allstate Foundation and NNEDV have partnered to advance economic justice and end domestic violence. Their substantial investments in this issue have made a world of difference for survivors and the advocates and programs they depend on. This grant will improve advocates' and allies' understanding of financial abuse and available resources, provide credit-building microloans directly to survivors, and more.

We're proud to announce that Elena Hampton-Stover, NNEDV's Director of Housing, was selected to be part of The Allstate Foundation Executive Leadership Program’s Class of 2026! Over the next seven months, Elena will participate in a customized, cohort-based learning experience through the Kellogg School Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University with 29 other nonprofit leaders from across the country. Learn more about The Allstate Foundation's free leadership offerings here.

NNEDV in the News

"According to data gathered by the National Network to End Domestic Violence in August, the president’s proposed budget suggests cutting funding VAWA programs within the DOJ by over $200 million from fiscal 2025, to $505 million. […] National organizations such as NNEDV and The Hotline have been urging the public to call their representatives and vocalize support for these life-saving services." (The 19th)

Together, we can create a social, political, and economic environment in which domestic violence no longer exists.
